The education services report presents cost and participation data on early childhood education and care, pre-primary education, basic education and upper secondary education. In addition, the report includes information on social exclusion, applications to further education and the School Health Promotion study by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.
The first tab presents the net operating costs (operating costs – operating income) from Statistics Finland’s Operational Economy by Function statistics, and funding system reports on upper secondary education by the Finnish National Agency of Education. Depending on the task, the net operating costs are in proportion to the entire population of the municipality or to different age groups. For pre-primary education, the costs are proportional to the number of 6-year-olds in the municipality, and the number of 7–15-year-olds for basic education. In visualisations related to the costs of early childhood education and care, the costs are proportional to the number of children taking part in the various forms of early childhood education and care. For views displaying upper secondary education, you can select the filter from the menu. The views for upper secondary education are divided according to the education provider into municipalities and joint municipal authorities and private providers; these can be toggled with the buttons at the top of the page.
The second tab describes participation in early childhood education and care for each service form, participation in pre-primary education, the sizes of classes and educational institutions in basic education and the need for special support as well as the number of students and choice of subjects in upper secondary school and vocational education and training.
The third tab contains key figures and information on the risk of social exclusion, the provision of special support and the School Health Promotion study by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare. For the comparison analysis in the middle of the page, you can select variables from the filters above the image for the x axis and the y axis and to scale the size of the circle.
At the bottom of the page, there are visualisations of the student/teacher relationship at upper secondary schools by region.
