28% of municipalities and joint municipal authorities have tested the sending of reports on the budgets and financial plans of municipalities and joint municipal authorities (KTAS) (situation 14 November 2019). From the beginning of 2020, municipalities and joint municipal authorities must submit their budgetary and planning information to the State Treasury’s municipal information service. This task is related to the State Treasury assuming the responsibility for collecting financial information from municipalities as of 2021. Until then, this will be done by Statistics Finland. The restructuring will entail other wider updates to the provision of financial management information in order to automate the process as extensively as possible. The aim is to collect the information based on the same principles and ensure their optimal comparability. The information collected into the municipal information service will be publicly available through the Exploreadministration.fi service.
